Clifton Satterfield
1929 - 2022

Clifton Earl Satterfield, age 93, passed peacefully away on September 19, 2022. Clifton was born in Eudora, Arkansas on July 22, 1929, to Douglas J. and Ollie Lee (nee Murphy) Satterfield. He married Mary E. Smith in February 1951.

Clifton is survived by his children, Douglas(Nancy), Philip(Cindy), Terri(Radi) and Paula(Sharon). He is also survived by four grandchildren, Sean Satterfield(Ashley), Lee Satterfield, Randy Satterfield(Krystal), Audrey Nunn and six great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death, sixteen days ago, by his wife of 71 years, Mary E. Satterfield. He is also preceded in death by his brother Douglas James, and sisters; Lillian, Bertha and Edith.

Born in rural Arkansas just as the Great Depression began, he survived everything thrown his way. Cliff became a railroad man through and through. He began his career as a traveling auditor on the Missouri Pacific Railroad in Mer Rouge, LA and retired as a Superintendent on the Houston, Belt, and Terminal RR. His job with the railroad required moving about the Midwest every 1 to 3 years, beginning in LA, on to AR, TX, IL, MO, KS then finally retiring after the last transfer in The Woodlands, TX.

Along with his wife Mary, he raised four children, who shall miss him greatly, as he was a great father and provider. Cliff was a stern man but was always willing to help his children. He taught his children how to ride a bike, bait a hook, row a boat, hit a baseball, drive a car and encouraged them to be good, honest, independent adults.

Cliff was very involved in his church in The Woodlands, TX. He loved helping plan events at the church and participating in the Prime Timers social gatherings. He greatly enjoyed the Friendship Classes on Sunday mornings. He was also a past member of the Masons.

We extend our gratitude to Jackie, who helped care for and comfort Cliff for more than a year.

Private interment will be held at The Woodlands Methodist Church, The Woodlands, Texas, where he and Mary were dedicated members.
