He was born on October 7, 1946 to Robert and Edith (McDonald) Rice at Gardner, KS.
John worked as a Debt Collector for 25 years, most recently working part-time for Food and Fuel in Olathe.
On October 3, 2003, he married Patricia Louise Verhaeghe, and they made their home in Olathe, Kansas.
John enjoyed all sports, especially the KU Jayhawks, KC Royals and the Chiefs.
John is survived by his loving wife, Patricia, sister Barbara (Craig) Crago, four nieces, and three nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Charlotte Wiedel.
John was a loving, kind, husband with a big heart, and a wonderful sense of humor.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the charity of your choice.
