Connie Ann Freeberg, 77, of Gardner, Kansas, passed away on Sunday, July 25, 2021. She was born on June 10, 1944 in Iola, Kansas to George and Thelma (Muntzert) Wiklund.

Connie grew up in Ellsmore, KS on a farm. Her dad was a farmer and her mother was a homemaker. Connie also helped on the farm. She went to elementary school at Bethel. Later on, they moved to Humboldt, KS and she graduated from Humboldt High School. She worked for Southwestern Bell in Humboldt after graduating as a telephone operator. Humboldt was the last town to have telephone operators.

Don and Connie met in High School. On October 19, 1963, Don and Connie were married in Oklahoma. They settled in their first home in Wichita, KS. Connie was a homemaker. On April 26, 1965, they had their first daughter, Brenda Lee Freeberg. Then, on June 12, 1966, they had their second daughter, Glenda Ann Freeberg. In 1973, the family moved to Salina, KS. Connie worked at the school as a lunch cook. Then, she later went to work as an orthodontist assistant for Dr. Robert J. Cooper. They moved to Emporia, KS where Don worked for the Railroad and farmed. Connie also helped do the farming and was a homemaker. They moved to the Kansas City area in 1990. Then in December of 1999, they moved to Gardner, KS and have lived there ‘til present.

Don and Connie loved to travel in their motorhome for many years. They also went on four cruises with friends. She ended up passing away at home.

Connie is survived by her loving husband, Don Freeberg; daughters, Brenda Regnier and Glenda Dale; sisters, Linda Wiklund and Pattie Mintz; grandchildren, Ashlee Regnier, Paige Jones, and Larry Michael Urich; great-grandchildren, Jasper Regnier and Koby Kinser.

She is preceded in death by her parents; half-brothers, Bernard Kamping and Karl Kamping; nephews Garry Thompson and Daylan Thompson.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00am on Sunday, August 15, 2021, at Penwell Gabel's Olathe Chapel, with a reception following.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions in Connie’s memory be made to either the Olathe Health Cancer Center, 15123 OMC Pkwy, Olathe, KS 66061, or to Olathe Health’s Hospice Care, 15310 S. Marion St., Olathe, Kansas 66061.
