In Memory Of
Barbara Jean Enright
1944 - 2021

Barbara Jean (Galemore) Enright, 76, of Olathe, Kansas, passed away on Tuesday, June 1, 2021. She was born on October 28, 1944, in Humboldt, Kansas to Orion and May (Voss) Galemore.

Barbara, the fourth of eight children, grew up on the family farm in rural Humboldt. She loved being outside, swimming in the creek, playing with younger siblings, and tormenting the older ones. With such a large family, everyone helped. Barbara stayed close to home, helping her mother with cooking, baking, watching the youngest siblings and enjoying the rare trips to town. Their house was always filled with music, her dad playing the banjo, uncles, aunts, and cousins visiting and filling the house with stories and laughter, or Barbara singing to the radio.

The family moved to Yates Center after the passing of her father when Barbara was 13. This is where Barbara finished school, enjoyed friends, supported her family as best she could with babysitting jobs and working at a local restaurant as a waitress. This is where she met her future husband, Ramon (Ray) Enright, a handsome fellow with onery, beautiful blue eyes. They married in 1958.

Barbara loved being a mother to her four children and was devoted to supporting them in school events, music, theatre, sports, and navigating through adult life. Family was her heart, sharing meals together, visiting, and caring for them. She worked outside the home in dietary management and food service. As a deaconess and choir member of the Christian Church, she taught bible school and adult bible study. Barbara’s soprano voice could be heard at the community cantatas or while driving her children to school. She enjoyed reading, attending performances with her husband, and traveling to visit her daughters when possible.

Barbara is survived by her loving children, Laura Sparks, Becky Conner, Barbara Enright-Anderson (Joseph) and Michael Enright; grandchildren Skyler Watkins, Justin Watkins, Kelly Conner, and Rachel Anderson. Her brother John Galemore (wife Elsie), brother-in-law Ron Wrestler, sisters-in-law Peggy Galemore and Cindy Galemore, along with several nieces, nephews, and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Ray Enright, her parents Orion and May Galemore, siblings Harold Galemore, Betty Wrestler, Leon Galemore, Donna Kay Zablotny, Dale Galemore and Donald Galemore.

The family will receive guests for a visitation from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm on Sunday, June 6, 2021 at Penwell Gabel's Olathe Chapel. The funeral service will be at 10:00 am on Monday also at Penwell Gabel, followed by burial in the Galemore Family Cemetery in Humboldt, KS commencing at 1:30 p.m. The family will be memorializing both Barbara and Ray during these services.

The family requests that contributions in Barbara’s memory be made to the Salvation Army; and contributions in Ray’s memory be made to the Yates Center Public Library.
