Dixie Jean Hilliard, 85, of Lenexa, passed away on November 20, 2020, at Lakeview Village in Lenexa, KS.

On September 17, 1935, she was born to Leslie and Erma (Goosen) Lucas at Guymon, OK. She grew up in Liberal, KS and graduated from Liberal High School in 1953.

Dixie worked as a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell and then a clerk for the U.S. Postal Service for several years.

On September 24, 1964, she married Kenneth Hilliard in Liberal, KS.

She was a member of the Wichita Rose Society in the 1970s and early 1980s and in the Topeka Rose Society from the late 1980s to 2011. She excelled as a master of gardening, cross-stitch, cooking, and baking. She nurtured and helped many family members and friends throughout her life.

Dixie is survived by her sister Betty Lucas and brothers William Lucas, Larry Lucas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Kenneth Hilliard, and sister Leslie Ann Plunk (Lucas).

Services are postponed until Spring or Summer 2021. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Lakeview Village, 9100 Park Street, Lenexa, KS 66215.
