Bobby "Bob" Joe Blue
1933 - 2019

Bobby “Bob” Joe Blue, 86, of Olathe, passed away on November 28, 2019. He was born to Elmer and Iba (Wolford) Blue in Mt. Pleasant, AR on February 18, 1933.

Bob grew up in and around Sage, AR. He graduated from Melbourne High School, Melbourne, AR. Bob was drafted into the US Army in August 1953. He served at Fort Niagara, NY as a 90 mm Anti-Aircraft Gun Crewman. He was honorably discharged in June 1955. Bob married the love of his life, Jerlene Faught Blue, on July 15, 1955. He worked for General Motors at the Olathe Delco Battery plant for 37 years. His life centered around the Lord and the church that he loved, Faith Baptist Church, of which he was a member for over 58 years - 50 of those years serving faithfully as Missions Treasurer. His hobbies included gardening and working in his yard. He loved watching ‘his’ Royals play baseball.

Bob is survived by his loving daughters, Jerrianne (Randy) Crawford, Melinda (Jeff) Crawford, and Dana (Bill) Vavricek as well as his brother, Charles Ramsey Jr., mother-in law, Elda Faught, grandchildren – Laura Quinlan, Meagan Quinlan, Danielle Cagle, Mandy Hagen, Matthew Dalsing, Nathan Crawford and fourteen great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Iba Blue, his granny, Meddie Wolford, his loving wife, Jerlene Blue, brother James Harold Blue, and sisters Tommy Lucille Sipe, Christine Melton and Mona Simmons.

The family will receive guests for a visitation from 6:00 – 8:00 pm on Thursday, December 5, 2019, at Penwell-Gabel’s Olathe Chapel. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 am Friday, December 6, 2019, at Faith Baptist Church in Olathe, followed by burial at Johnson County Memorial Gardens.
