Jay Arthur Lautzenheiser, 78, passed away September 29th, 2019, in Overland Park, KS. Jay was born May 16th, 1941, to Arthur and Margaret (Sweet) Lautzenheiser in Indianapolis, IN. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Jay is survived by his wife, Sylvia, step-sons, Craig (Pam) Carr, Keith Carr, and grandchildren Ryan, Adam, Tyler, and Kaitlyn Carr.

He is also survived by his sister Ruth Ann Yager, daughter Valerie Lautzenheiser Jennings, Libby Lautzenheiser Keeling, and granddaughter Rachel and Emma Jennings.

Jay retired from IBM in 1995 where he worked as a systems engineer. After retirement, he continued to work in the area of computers as a consultant and instructor.

Flying was one of his greatest pleasures. He passed along his knowledge and passion as a flight instructor at Lee's Summit, MO., airport.

Jay was a man of strong faith. He lived with Parkinson's for 16 years, but never let it define him. He most enjoyed time with family and friends. Being Papa to Ryan, Adam, Tyler, and Kaitlyn gave him much joy. His family will miss him everyday, but we are so grateful for his presence in our lives.

Jay's celebration of life service will be Friday, November 1st, 2019, at 1 pm. at Village Presbyterian Church, 6641 Mission Rd, Prairie Village, KS 66208.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the Village Church Music Ministry or to the National Parkinson Foundation.
