William "Bill" Russell King, Jr., 73, of Olathe, Kansas, passed away on Saturday, October 3, 2026. He was born on November 5, 1952 in Paterson, New Jersey to William and Grace (Bogert) King.
Bill grew up in West Paterson, NJ where he participated in sports and drum corps. He graduated from Passaic Valley high school in 1970. Following graduation, he went to work in the family business as an import commodities sampler and weigher on the ports of NY/NJ and Virginia. He started his own business in the same industry around 1990 and maintained a license with the NY Spice Exchange until his death.
Bill and Donna, his wife, were married in Hawthorne, NJ. They proudly welcomed and raised four children. Bill spent the ensuing years proudly coaching his sons’ baseball and football teams and his daughters’ softball teams. He worked tirelessly to turn their home in Haskell, NJ into everything Bill and Donna dreamed it could be. They lived in that home for 40 years until retirement, when they relocated to Olathe, KS to be closer to family.
One of his hobbies was walking and caring for his beloved Jack Russells. He was an avid NY Mets fan and rooted for the NY Giants until moving to Kansas when he quickly became a proud Kansas City Chiefs fan.
Bill is survived by his wife, Donna (Herman) King; children, Theresa (Erick) Anderson, Christopher King, Timothy King, and Kathryn (Ricky) Cook; grandchildren, Mackenzie King, Andrew King, Avery King, Addison King and Casey Anderson; and many other cherished relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother Grace and his father William Sr.
