Willa Chapman was born on Friday April 5, 1946 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, to parents Jamie Scott and Willa Scott. Willa was their oldest daughter. She was united in holy matrimony with Roscoe Chapman, Sr., and from their union, three wonderful children were born: Roscoe Chapman, Jr., her oldest son (who preceded her in death), her loving son Parrish Chapman, and her loving daughter Pamela Banks. They will continue to carry on her legacy.

Willa accepted Christ at an early age under the guidance of Aunt Carrie, who also preceded her in death. Willa was a beloved and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister-in-law, aunt, cousin and friend. She loved to shop, dress nicely, keep her nails impeccable, and would see something she liked in your closet and gracefully add it to her collection. Willa was skilled at being a caring and dedicated wife, mother, and homemaker who always kept her home immaculate.

Willa was truly faithful and dedicated to her husband Roscoe Chapman, Sr., until she finished her course. In His infinite wisdom, God united Willa and Roscoe Chapman, who loved and cherished her. God allowed them to be each other’s rock and source of strength for over 63 years. All we can say of our dearly beloved Willa is that she fought a good fight. Through her life, God showed us that He is still in the miracle-working business. Through her faith and prayer, He used her as a vessel to let the world know that with God, all things are possible and that nothing is beyond His power.

Willa leaves to cherish her memories and to carry on her legacy, her loving and caring husband, Roscoe Chapman, Sr., her loving son, Roscoe Chapman, Jr. (Beatrice) preceded her in death. Her son, Parrish Chapman (Tosha), and her loving and devoted daughter, Pamela Banks (Theodore) will continue to carry on her legacy. Her grandchildren: Tasheka Banks, Candice Banks, Chanel Banks, Noah Chapman, and Parrish Chapman, Jr., her great-grandchildren: Chloe Garrett and Ava Nicole Neal. Her siblings, Carolyn, Marilyn, and Betty Jean, preceded her in death. Her brother, Benny Scott, Albert Scott, Everlee Scott, Robert Scott, Annie Dixon (Perry Dixon). Her sister-in-law(s): Evangelist, Ida Mae Rivers (Roosevelt); Elizabeth Robinson (MacArthur); her sister-in-law (s): Beatrice Chapman and Inell Peck, who preceded her in death. Her brother-in-law(s) (John Chapman (Linne); Donnie Chapman; and Jimmy Chapman, Sr. also preceded her in death. Willa had a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends who will all solely miss her, the fast talking, the sternness, but most of all her unconditional love.

We thank God for Willa’s life, her sternness, and most of all her care and big heart-always willing to babysit our kids, even when we were sometimes short on money to pay her. Her laughter filled the room. Blessed is Willa Chapman, who died in the Lord, for she now rests from her labors, but her works follow her. We ask God to wipe away our tears, knowing that we will see her again at the great family reunion when Jesus Christ comes again and resurrects Willa, where she will no longer suffer pain, sickness, or death. Though our hearts ache from the absence of Willa’s physical presence, we know that we will see her again.
