Alford Wesley O’Banion, known to family and friends as Wes, was born on January 2, 1939, in Syracuse, Kansas. He passed away peacefully on April 19, 2026, in Olathe, Kansas.
Wes earned his master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from Emporia State University and dedicated many years of service as a rehabilitation counselor for the State of Kansas. He took great pride in his work and the impact he made in the lives of others.
In his free time, Wes found joy in his workshop, where he crafted a variety of woodworking projects.
He is survived by his loving wife, Beth (Cordes) O’Banion; his son, Kyle O’Banion; his daughter, Sherry Land (Jeff); five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Eva (McCoy) O’Banion, and his son, Chris O’Banion (Rosie).
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
