Wayne E. Johnson, 80, of Gardner, Kansas, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, September 13, 2024.
Wayne was born on October 12, 1943 in Osawatomie, Kansas to Ira Johnson and Sarah Abbott.
Wayne grew up in Osawatomie Kansas, where he graduated from Osawatomie High School. He was affectionately called “Pep” by friends and family. Wayne was a devoted Chicago Bears fan and an avid listener of Blues and Jazz. He was also a retired metro city bus driver for 20 years in Arizona.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Ira and Sarah, his brother Ira “June Bug” Johnson Jr., a daughter, Waynetta Johnson, a son, William Quary, two grand-daughters, Nachele Carter and Brandy Minshaw.
He is survived by his loving wife, Gwendolyn Johnson, children, Troycia Gilmore (Darnell), Terrance Bruce, Zeattie Robinson, Elaine Johnson, Renee Johnson, Eugene Quary, David Robinson, Anthony Simons, David Johnson, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. And a host of family and friends.
Celebration of Life will be held at The Gardner Senior Citizen Community Center on October 4th at 3pm with repass to follow.
