Listen to Obituary

Vincent Craig Rath, a beloved husband, father, brother, son, and friend, passed away on September 9, 2025, in Olathe, Kansas. Born on November 16, 1963, in Beaufort, South Carolina, Vince led a life characterized by dedication to both his family and his professional endeavors. Vince had a great respect for the United States Marine Corps and their motto "Semper Fidelis" ("Always Faithful"), by which he lived his life.

He was the founder, owner and operator of Optimum Retail Solutions, a respected sales management consulting firm where he helped family-owned jewelry retailers across the US to thrive. His expertise and dedication earned him the admiration of colleagues and clients alike, reflecting his passion for mentoring and for helping others to achieve excellence. He had a unique ability to tie work to purpose and he helped many people to discover the greater meaning within their professional lives.

Outside of his professional achievements, Vince was an avid fisherman, finding solace and joy in the tranquility of nature. His love for fishing was not just a hobby but a cherished retreat where he often found peace and inspiration. He had a particular fondness for Melvern Lake, where he fished as often as his busy home and work life allowed. He was the Vice President of the Olathe Bass Club, an organization that afforded him great comfort and camaraderie.

Vince was a person who made friends and connections everywhere he went. He valued experiences over material things, and he loved sharing meaningful experiences with his family and friends. He believed in leaving places and people better than he found them, a value he instilled in his children and grandchildren. For all of the lives he touched, he was touched as well; Vince was profoundly impacted by his colleagues, acquaintances, friends and family and they all participated together to shape a wonderful life full of meaning and impact.

Vince is survived by his devoted wife, Christy, and their three children, William Rath (Anastasia), Mary Lee (Fred) and Sarah DeHart (Brett), who will carry forward his legacy of love, strength and devotion. Later in life, he was grateful to connect with his son Nick Metcalf (Jessica) who also carries his legacy of love, strength and devotion. He is also remembered fondly by his grandchildren, Olive, Brixton, Nova, Liam, Vincy, Mina and Inara, who brought him immense joy throughout his life. Vince always reserved time to create wonderful memories with Christy, his children and grandchildren, for which they will always be grateful. Vince is also survived by his father, Bill Rath, his mother, Dottie Rath, and his Sister, Diane Rath and several nephews and nieces.

Vince’s presence in the lives of his family and friends was a constant source of love and support. His laughter, wisdom, and determined spirit will be deeply missed and cherished in the memories of all who knew him.
