Thomas Joseph Rockey

Thomas Joseph Rockey passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by loved ones, on Tuesday June 23rd, 2026. Tom was born on June 8th, 1938 to Dale and Alice Rockey in Alliance, NE. After graduating from St. Agnes High School he attended St. Benedict’s College in Atchison, KS. Following his years at Saint Benedict‘s, he joined the US Army and served for two years. During this time he was a chaplain‘s assistant.

In July 1964, Tom married Sandra Jordan at St. Peter‘s Catholic Church in Lindsay, Oklahoma. Four years later, Tom’s job with Ford Motor Company moved them to Olathe, KS where they have built their lives. Tom worked for Ford for 38 years retiring in 1997. He spent much of his later years helping take care of his elderly parents and grandchildren, being an active member of St Paul’s Catholic Church, serving with the Knights of Columbus and coordinating the St. Mary’s Food Kitchen. Tom spent a life serving others and all who met him were lucky to call him a friend.

Tom is survived by his wife, Sandy; his children, Chris (Todd) McCracken and Shane (Tina) Rockey; five grandchildren, Patrick, Nora, and Catherine Rockey, and Megan and Maddie McCracken; and two great-grandchildren, Zoey and Liam.

Services will be held on July 1, 2026 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, 21650 West 115th Terr. Olathe, KS 66061. The Rosary will start at 9:00 AM, Visitation 9:30 AM followed by the Mass at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Paul’s Building Fund to honor Tom’s lifelong commitment to caring for those around him, particularly those not as fortunate as he.
