Thomas Eugene Lippert

Thomas E Lippert was born at home on February 11, 1936, on the farm in Bison, Kansas. He was the youngest of five children (Two deceased as infants), born to Nancy Belle (Allen)Lippert and Frank Lee Lippert. Tom’s mother passed away when he was just two years old. Tom had another six siblings after his mother’s death, making a total of eleven brothers and sisters. In the early years, Tom and his brother Roger were close in age and had a special bond. Tom attended schools in the La Crosse/Ingalls, Kansas area. There, he and his older brother worked and lived on various farms during their childhood. Upon graduation from Ingalls High School, Tom attended Kansas State College (University), where he graduated with a degree in Business and Finance. Tom was a part of R.O.T.C. while at KSU. It was at KSU, where he met the love of his life, Janet Ann Viar. They married in Topeka, Kansas on January 30, 1960.
Upon graduation from Kansas State University, Tom began his work life at City Investment Company in Junction City, Kansas. He also completed his basic training in the Army at Ft Sill, Oklahoma. He was a member of the National Guard in Junction City, and then Emporia Kansas when transferred to Emporia with City Investment Company to run their location there. Tom built a solid reputation for hard, trustworthy work. He was held in great esteem for problem solving and doing what is right. His gifts and skills were utilized in his career moving on to Didde Graphics, Columbia Savings and Loan, Lawson Real Estate, and Ek Real Estate. Tom Retired from Didde Graphics in 1998. He retired from Ek Real Estate in 2016.
In Emporia, Tom’s love for the Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ was fostered and grew. He was a member of 12th Avenue Baptist Church. When Tom and Jan moved to Olathe, KS in 2022, they enjoyed hearing God’s word and the wonderful music at Lenexa Baptist Church. Tom loved to witness to others. He loved his family dearly, and had compassion for people. Tom served on the Hettlinger Board of Directors, the Youth for Christ Board, and was an Ombudsman for the State of Kansas, Presbyterian Manor. He also was a member of the Kansas-Nebraska Home Mission Board.
In 1998, Tom and Jan both spent a year as Southern Baptist missionaries at the Missionary Service Corp at the Baptist Village in Israel. They loved this work, and continued their missionary work to plant Churches in Canada for several years. Tom also led worship services with Point of Light at Lake Kahola for the Sunday services for several years.
Tom enjoyed the outdoors hunting and fishing. He also loved camping and created many family memories as they explored the lower 48 states. He enjoyed historic sites and U.S history. Another love was participating and singing in the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barber Shop Quartet Singing in America (S.P.E.B.S.Q.S.A.), and Barbershop Harmony Society (BHS). Later, Tom was proud to learn of his rich ancestry and was a proud member of both the Kansas Society Sons of the American Revolution and Society of the Mayflower Descendants.
Tom is survived at home in Olathe, Kansas by his wife Janet. His Children, Laura Roberts (Phillip), Huntsville, Alabama, Martin Lippert (Mary Ann), Overland Park, Kansas, Dan Lippert (Kim), Emporia, Kansas, his five grandchildren, Rebekah Ormond (Wesley), Christopher Roberts (Brianna), Michael Lippert, Max Thomas Lippert, and Mazie Kolterman. He has five great grandchildren, Vivian Ormond, Benton Thomas Ormond, Elzy Kate Ormond, Grady Thomas Roberts, and Hatten Paige Roberts. He is also survived by his sisters, Carolyn Greenfield, Kay Hittson, and brothers, Dennis Lippert and Jim Lippert.
His interment will be in Dunlap, Kansas. There will be a celebration of life at 12th Avenue Baptist Church. Date to be determined. The family request in leu of flowers, please donate to 12th Avenue Baptist Church, 2
