Sylvia Jean Landis, a vibrant soul known for her infectious joy, passed away peacefully on February 25, 2026, in Stilwell, Kansas. Born on October 10, 1941, in Kansas City, Missouri, Sylvia lived a life filled with love, creativity, and a dedication to her family and community.
In her professional journey, Sylvia thrived in various roles including sales with Shaklee and The Pampered Chef, as well as in the petroleum industry with Texaco. Her passion for communication and community service was evident in her work as an inspirational writer for a weekly newspaper and her role as a crossing guard, where she ensured the safety of many children. Sylvia was also an enthusiastic singer, sharing her love for music with those around her. She was awarded several trophies for singing at the Kansas Old Time Fiddlers, Pickers and Singers Convention.
One of her proudest accomplishments was the development of a Bible Memory teaching program, which showcased her commitment to education and spiritual growth. This initiative left a lasting impact on those she taught, reflecting her deep faith and dedication to nurturing others.
Sylvia is survived by her beloved husband, George, and her cherished children; daughters Debra Fisher and Christina Landis, as well as her son, Jeffrey Landis. She found immense joy in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were a source of constant pride and happiness for her. Sylvia's life was further enriched by her sisters, Earlene Hamilton, Janet Beck, Joyce Sheldon, and Christina Morrow, who shared many memories and moments of joy with her throughout the years.
Sylvia was preceded in death by her daughter, Marsha Wolf, and her brother, Frank Cadwell. Their memories will forever remain a part of her legacy.
As we remember Sylvia Jean Landis, we celebrate a life well-lived, marked by joy, love, and an unwavering spirit. She touched countless lives through her work, her music, and most importantly, through her beloved family. Her legacy will continue to resonate in the hearts of all who knew her.
