Stephen Arthur Goss passed away on July 30, 2025, in Overland Park, Kansas.
Born on April 14, 1961, in Royal Oak, Michigan, to Hugh Arthur Goss, Jr. and Jeanette (Frankenstein) Goss, Steve was the third born of four children. When Steve was a young boy, he and his family moved to Connecticut. Steve graduated from Simsbury High School in 1979 and went on to attend the University of South Carolina, graduating with a Business degree. Following college, he started his business career in Houston, Texas.
In 1992, he married Dawn (Roth) and they had 2 children, Ethan and Nicholas Goss. In 1996, the family moved from Houston to Overland Park, Kansas. For over forty years, Steve worked in sales. Since 2012, he worked for Spectrum (formerly Time Warner).
Steve enjoyed a variety of different hobbies and when not at work could be found enjoying his latest find at the local library, watching movies, listening to live music, attending art festivals or helping out with chilli and BBQ cookoffs. He enjoyed taking walks with the family dog, Gracie, and was a devoted fan of the Gamecocks, Chiefs and Royals.
Family played a significant part in Steve’s life. He and Dawn were the proud parents of Ethan and Nicholas, and they always looked forward to spending time together. Steve was eagerly awaiting Ethan’s wedding in the spring of 2026.
Steve is survived by his wife, Dawn, sons, Ethan and Nicholas, and his three siblings: Pete Goss (Carita), Casey Goss, and Julie Goss. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Hugh A. Goss, Jr. (1976) and Jeanette Goss (1990) and his father-in-law, Ron Roth (2001).
A Celebration of Life will be held on September 13, 2025. In October, Steve will be laid to rest in the North Hill Cemetery in Wayland, Iowa.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to either the American Diabetes Organization or to KKFI, a local blues radio station in Kansas City.
