Sherry Kay (Meier) Brooks, daughter of Pearl Meier, was born on July 30, 1952. She went to be with Jesus on September 3, 2025 following a grueling battle with cancer.
Sherry graduated from Quinter High School and went on to graduate from Colby Community College where she earned her Licensed Practical Nursing degree. After college, she married her high school sweetheart, Gale Brooks, on May 27, 1973. Following their wedding, they lived in KU married student housing while Sherry worked in the Intensive Care Unit at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
After Gale’s graduation, they relocated to Quinter, KS and expanded their family. Sherry stayed busy raising 4 children, was active in the church teaching Sunday school, coordinating vacation bible school and summer camp at Camp Colorado while also supporting Brooks Rexall Drug pharmacy, which she and Gale started in 1976. Sherry and Gale relocated to Kansas City to be closer to their children following the sale of their pharmacy in 2001. In 2025, they celebrated their 52nd anniversary.
Sherry was a proud wife, mother, Meema to her grandchildren and friend to many. When she wasn’t attending the many events of her grandchildren, she was busy crafting, quilting and traveling to see friends and family.
She is survived by her husband, Gale Brooks (Spring Hill, KS), and 4 children, Neysa (Steve) Hodes, Overland Park, KS, Rochelle (Jared) Comfort, Lawrence, KS, Taylor Brooks and Bonnie Titone, Charlotte, NC, and Tauni (Nate) Seyer, Chesterfield, MO; and twelve grandchildren Stevie, Peyton, Hudson, Kensington, Ocean, Indigo, Sapphire, Symphony, Midnight, Navy, Owen and Delaney; her brother Rod (Beth) Meier, many nieces/nephews, cousins and in-laws.
Sherry is preceded in death by her mother, Pearl Meier, grandchildren Pixie and Sky Comfort, nephew Josh Meier, father-in-law Marion Brooks, and many of her dear friends.
