Sharon Pierson passed away Tuesday, October 22, 2024, after living a beautiful life filled with family and friends.
Sharon was born in Kansas City, Missouri on June 30, 1943, to Irving and Harriet Horwitz. She was an only child but had fun with her cousins, Shevie Winitz and Linda Mottaz. Sharon attended Loretto Academy from 1948-1960 where she made life-long friends. She attended college at the University of Central Missouri.
Sharon married Richard Lee Pierson on June 14, 1968. Together they worked hard to create a comfortable and loving environment for their family and friends. Richard and Sharon enjoyed dancing, boating on the Lake of the Ozarks, entertaining by their pool, and just being together until Richard’s passing in 1999.
Sharon is survived by her four children: Kiley Michaud, Kenny Pierson, Michele Pierson, and Cindy Battaglia, eight grandchildren: Kara and Kevin Michaud, Kori Reed, Dakota and Rowan Pierson, Rhodes Battaglia, Alexis Whiteman, and Payton Shima, and four great-grandchildren: Karson Reed, Remington Reed, Blakely Reed, and Alaric Whiteman.
Sharon worked as an administrative assistant at the Washington Consulting Group for many years.
After she retired, she worked for Daughters and Company where the people she cared for became friends. She was the perfect caretaker.
In her later life, Sharon was active in her community, where she traveled, played dominos, and found ways to enjoy life. One of her favorite things to do is watch dinner theater. She was a season ticket holder for the New Theatre and Restaurant for over twenty years. When she was home, she watched Blue Bloods, and, of course, she loved watching the Chiefs and the Royals play.
Sharon also became deeply involved with her church, Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church. She attended church when she could, but made sure she watched the service online if she couldn’t. Her devotion led her to be involved in various groups including Life Light, Faith Alive, and Sunday morning bible studies.
As you can tell, Sharon was full of beauty and light. She was incredibly thoughtful and easy to love, and to be loved by her was a special gift. She will be missed.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Sharon's memory to the American Heart Association, 5800 Foxridge Drive #108, Mission, KS 66202.
