Sharon Kay Corben

With heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived, we announce the peaceful passing of Sharon K. Corben, a woman whose radiant spirit touched all who had the privilege of knowing her. Sharon departed from this world on June 22, 2026, at her beloved home, surrounded by the enduring love of her family and friends.

Born on March 1, 1942, in Kansas City, Missouri, Sharon was the cherished daughter of Martin C. Huhn and Etha E. (Hawthorne) Huhn. Her childhood in Kansas City was filled with the warmth of family and the beginnings of a lifelong journey of friendships and community service. She attended Paseo High School where she began to cultivate the qualities that would define her life: compassion, leadership, and a zest for adventure.

Sharon was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 55 years, George "Bill" Corben, her parents Martin and Etha, and her siblings John F. Pace, H. Bernard Huhn, Florence Nash, Alice Justice, and Shirley Wallace. She also suffered the deep loss of her son Bill Corben, and grandsons Jered Corben and Joshua Flint, whose memories will forever be cherished.

Surviving her are her children, Cathleen "Cathy" Corben Flint and her husband Charles, and her son Jeffrey Corben. Her legacy continues through her granddaughter Erika Tlasek and her husband Ian, and her precious great-granddaughter, Ava Tlasek. Sharon is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Janet Richards Corben, and her sister-in-law, Margaret Gondring, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins who were dear to her heart.

Her commitment to her community was unwavering. A dedicated member of the Heritage Presbyterian Church in Olathe, Kansas, Sharon's faith was a guiding light in her life. She devoted over two decades to the American Business Women's Association, serving as President of her chapter twice, and was actively involved in cultural and social groups like Culture Club, Wisters, Bunco, and Red Hats, where she reigned as Queen for several years. Her volunteer work at Children's Mercy Hospital spanned over 20 years, reflecting her profound compassion and dedication to helping others.

Sharon's life was a tapestry of vibrant colors and enduring friendships. A passionate collector, she found joy in her extensive collection of dolls and delicate teacup sets. Her love for adventure traveling in either trains, planes, automobiles, or cruise ships was shared with her soulmate Bill, chasing trains was a favorite. After Bill's passing, Sharon continued her travels with her brother, Bernard exploring Europe and visiting family across the United States and Canada.

Sharon's presence was as bright and sparkly as her cherished wardrobe, complete with her signature shoes that were as vibrant as her spirit. She will be remembered for her caring nature, always ready to offer comfort or a helping hand to those in need.

As we celebrate Sharon's life, we hold dear the memories of her infectious laughter, her unwavering love, and the legacy of kindness she leaves behind. Her spirit will continue to inspire us, reminding us to live fully and love deeply.
