Saundra Jean Hill

Saundra Jean Hill, 87, of Olathe, Kansas, a devoted wife, loving mother and cherished grandmother/great grandmother, was peacefully promoted to heaven on Thursday, February 12, 2026, surrounded by her family. She was born on November 5, 1938 in Des Moines, Iowa to Albert and Katherine (Gresham) Aldrich.

Saundra (Grammy) grew up in Redfield, Iowa where she met the love of her life, Ray. The two of them were high school sweethearts. It was there where she famously wrote in his yearbook, “I want to be the one who makes you dinner every night and if not, watch out.”

Saundra made lifelong friends everywhere she went from growing up in Iowa to moving around the country to North Carolina, Texas, Nebraska, Michigan and Kansas. It was in Kansas where she became a member of the Foxy Five who enjoyed many memorable trips and get-togethers throughout the years. One of her favorite places was the Lake of the Ozarks where she hosted family and friends for holiday fun and spontaneous parties. Once at the lake, you were always treated to her famous scotcheroos, potato salad and the warning of “be careful.”

Saundra loved cheering for local Kansas teams-KU basketball, the Chiefs and the Royals-and always enjoyed Mexican food or a good pork tenderloin sandwich.

Saundra dedicated much of her life to caring for her beloved husband and family, providing unwavering support and love through every stage of their life. Her selflessness and presence were a quiet force that gave the family great comfort.

Above all, she adored her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Family was her greatest joy-she delighted in gatherings and always provided heavy doses of unconditional love. She was always ready with a hug and blessed many hearts.

Saundra is survived by her children Ray (Melanie) Hill, Jr., Steve Hill, and Stacy (Bill) Racz, grandchildren, Abby Hecke (Matt), Brian Hill, Mackenzie Hill, Billy Racz, and Lindsay Racz, and her great-grandchildren, Kaden and Landon.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Hill, Sr., parents, Albert Aldrich and Katherine Aldrich, her brother Robert Aldrich and her sister Charlene Stapes.
