Sam Muiruri Wambua, 23, of Olathe, Kansas, passed away on April 25, 2026.
Born on April 13, 2003, in Overland Park, Kansas, Sam was the beloved son of Wambua Musau and Esther Muiruri. He grew up in the Kansas area and graduated from Blue Valley West High School. He continued his education at Johnson County Community College and later completed a cybersecurity program, earning his certification. Sam had a true thirst for knowledge and was always striving to grow. Most recently, he trained as an electrician, a career he loved and excelled in. Sam was a dedicated and hardworking young man. Earlier in his career, he worked as a car salesman at Honda of Olathe, where he was recognized as one of the top young performers. His drive and determination were evident in everything he pursued.
Outside of work, Sam had a deep love for life and the people around him. He enjoyed playing basketball and soccer, fishing, and giving back by coaching children’s soccer. He brought energy, joy, and encouragement to everyone he met.
Sam is survived by his loving mother, Wairimu; his siblings, Daisy and Musau; his grandparents, Samuel Muiruri and Mr. and Mrs. Musau; his girlfriend, Brennleigh; his beloved dog, Kenzo; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins who cherished him deeply.
He was preceded in death by his father, Wambua Musau, and his grandmother, Edith Muiruri, who will be there to meet him at the gates of heaven.
Sam will be remembered for his zest for life, his joyful spirit, and his caring and kind heart. He loved his family deeply and always pushed those around him to be their best. His presence brought light into every room, and his memory will live on in all who knew and loved him.
The family will receive guests for a visitation from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. on Monday, May 4, 2026, at Penwell-Gabel’s Olathe Chapel. A funeral service will follow at 9:00 a.m., with burial at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery in Lenexa.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Sam’s honor to The Jed Foundation or The Samaritans Foundation.
Forever in our hearts, Sam, may you rest in perfect peace. You are deeply loved and will be forever missed. You will continue to live in our hearts until the day we meet again.
