Ryan Whitney, 15, passed away on December 11th, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Olathe, Kansas, Ryan was the beloved son of Matt and Tiffany and was their world. He was a treasured brother to Ashlyn and Jake. He was a devoted friend, a gifted athlete, and a shining light to his extended family and everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Ryan’s love for sports was unmatched, and his dedication to excellence was evident in everything he did. Whether practicing tirelessly in the backyard, playing wiffle ball with his brother, or preparing for the game-winning moment, Ryan’s passion and determination were awe-inspiring. A standout talent from a young age, he played competitive baseball with the Cavaliers and Team KC, earning numerous MVP awards throughout his career.
As a freshman at Olathe South High School, Ryan excelled as a member of the football team and looked forward to making his mark on the Falcons baseball team. Off the field, Ryan embraced the great outdoors, finding joy in fishing, wakeboarding, and spending time at the lake.
But beyond his athletic achievements, Ryan was known for his remarkable character. His kind words and big heart uplifted everyone around him. Ryan had a rare gift for making people feel valued and appreciated. His humor brought smiles to countless faces, and his warm, encouraging spirit forged lasting connections wherever he went.
Ryan’s impact extended far beyond his years, and his legacy lives on through his selflessness. In his final act of kindness, Ryan gave the gift of life through organ donation, touching the lives of others in profound ways.
