Rusty James Galbraith, age 38, of Stilwell, passed away September 18, 2025.
Born on November 10, 1986, in Eureka, KS, Rusty was the beloved son of Matt Galbraith and Natalie (Soule) Galbraith. Growing up in Eureka, he loved the outdoors and played any sport he could. After graduating from the University of St. Mary’s, he pursued a career in nursing. He began at Overland Park Regional and later joined Providence Medical Center, where he was recognized by colleagues and patients’ families for his dedication in the ER and ICU. His decision to become a nurse was fostered by his late stepmom, Susan Lilla Galbraith, who was a blessing in his life.
Rusty was a devoted husband, father, and son. He met his wife, Allison (Alli), during their college years, and they married in 2011. Together they built a life centered around family, raising two young daughters, Henley and Linden, who were the light of his life.
Rusty was easygoing, good to all, and always happy to lend a hand. He was kind and found joy in life’s simple pleasures - smoking meat for family gatherings, entertaining the kids, tending to his chickens and fishing.
Above all, Rusty will be remembered for being a loving and incredible dad. Nothing made him happier than cheering on Henley and Linden at their activities, especially on the softball field. He was always prepared—setting up shade tents and fans, running the GameChanger video, and making sure his girls felt supported. When work kept him away on holidays and he arrived late in the day, his girls would welcome him with big hugs. One of his final days was spent having lunch at school with Linden to celebrate her birthday.
Fourth of July in Stilwell won’t be the same without Rusty helping the girls run their sno cone and lemonade charity stand.
He is survived by his wife, Allison; children, Henley Louise and Linden Lilla; parents, Matt Galbraith (Deanna Jensen) and Natalie Soule; brother, Jesse Galbraith; and grandmothers Marilyn Higbee Soule and Charlotte Lilla. He is also survived by his parents-in-law, Rick and Sheryl Souders; sister-in-law, Ashley Jones (Adam); brothers-in-law, Bryson Souders (Tara) and Brock Souders; his aunts, Ann Galbraith, Linda Sobieski (Rod), Carolyn Soule, and Vickie Schneider (Boyd); along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his stepmother, Susan Galbraith; and his grandparents, Clarence (Pappy) and Madeline Galbraith, Gilbert (Jerry) Soule.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, September 25, at 11:00 a.m. at Bourgmont Winery in Bucyrus, KS. Burial will follow on October 4 at 2:00 p.m. at the Upper Fall River Church in Eureka, KS.
