Roger William Van Gorder, born on July 21, 1961, in Johnston City, New York, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2025, in Mission, Kansas. 

A proud veteran, Roger served honorably in the U.S. Army as an expert infantryman in the 101st Airborne Division, a commitment to his country that would resonate throughout his life. In his time in the service be earned medals for marksmanship and good behavior. His professional career included time working as a mechanic, construction worker, car salesman, retail manager, and finally appliance salesman. He was known for his strong work ethic and friendliness toward customers and colleagues alike.

Roger was a lifelong musician having grown up watching his father Albert perform throughout New York. He had a particular love for singing and playing guitar, but could also play ukulele, mandolin, banjo, and the fiddle. He performed with several groups while living in Illinois, Florida, Delaware, and Washington. He was also an enthusiastic sports fan with a special affection for the Kansas City Chiefs and the KC Royals. He found joy in watching their games, celebrating victories, and sharing meaningful moments with friends.

Roger is survived by his sister Alcora Boyle, and his children, Ryan Van Gorder (Elizabeth), Sarah Howard (Matt), and Dale Van Gorder (Allison), as well as 2 amazing grandchildren. He leaves behind a legacy of love and joy that will be remembered by all who knew him.He will be deeply missed, yet his spirit will continue to resonate in the hearts of those he loved.
