Roger Stephen Rollins, 79, was born on September 12, 1946, in Urbana, Illinois, and was taken to heaven on March 28, 2026, in Olathe, Kansas
Roger was preceded in death by his infant son, Stephen M. Rollins; his father, Marion Rollins; his mom, Mary Louise Berg-Smith; his stepdad, Stanley Berg; and his brothers, Reinhold Berg and Robert (Bob) Berg, LCDR, USN.
He is survived by his beloved bride of 58 years, Gayle E. Rollins; his daughter, Cynthia Rollins of Overland Park, Kansas; and his sons, Adam (Brooke) Rollins of Carrollton, Texas; Aaron (Erica) Rollins of Olathe, Kansas; and Zachary (Heidi) Rollins of Olathe, Kansas. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Hunter, Mason (Rosey), Reagan (Jonathan) Diebold, Abigail, Lillian, and Phoenix; his great-grandchildren, Reuben and Boaz; and many nieces and nephews.
Roger proudly served in the United States Army from 1967 to 1971. During the Vietnam War, he served as an analyst with the Army Security Agency attached to the 8th Radio Relay Field Station in Phu Bai.
After returning to civilian life, Roger attended Purdue University, where he earned his Bachelor of Pharmacy degree in 1975. He went on to work as a pharmacist for 38 years, beginning in retail pharmacy before transitioning into hospital pharmacy, where he especially enjoyed helping people feel better.
Roger will be remembered for far more than words can express. What stands out most is his faith in Jesus Christ, his deep devotion and love for his wife, the love and wisdom he shared with his children, and his love of fishing—along with the many memorable fish stories that came with it.
Roger is deeply missed by his family and friends. Even in their sorrow, they rejoice in knowing that he is free from his ailments and now in the presence of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.
The family will receive guests for a visitation from 10:00-11:00 AM on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at Lenexa Baptist Church with the funeral service following at 11:00 AM.
