Robert W. Ziegler

May 13, 1954 — May 24, 2025

Stillwell, Kansas

Robert Wayne Ziegler passed from this life, peacefully and surrounded by family, at his home on May 24, 2025.

Bob was born May 13, 1954 in Hutchinson, KS to Charles and Dee (Wedel) Ziegler. He spent his early childhood in Lawrence, KS with his two younger sisters, Katie and Lori. After moving back to Hutchinson, where he was a three sport athlete, he met his high school sweetheart, Teri Hoefer.

Bob and Teri married in 1976 and were later blessed with 3 daughters, Alisha, Brei, and Kenzie. After several moves across the state of Kansas, they settled in Stilwell, the place he called home for 35 years.

Bob followed in his Grandpa Walt’s footsteps by working for the telephone company. He started climbing telephone poles back when the only phones were landlines. This led to a 40 year career and an impressive collection of antique telephones.

Bob was happiest when on his boat, throwing a lure into Table Rock Lake, with a cheek full of sunflower seeds, and Fleetwood Mac on the radio. The champion of fun, Bob turned every interaction into a good time. He loved weekends at the lake and back porch-sitting with friends. He was a loyal Jayhawks fan, an amateur history buff, and an ornery prankster. Bob was often quiet and slow to speak, unless talking trash about Missouri.

Most important to Bob were his faith and his family. Bob was an active member at 151st St.Church of Christ since 1990. He loved spending time with family, and his 10 grandchildren were his most precious gifts. We rejoice because he is home with our Heavenly Father, but sad because we will never again hear him say, “Be quiet or you’ll scare the fish away.”

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Lori, and his in-laws. Bob is survived by his wife, Teri, their daughters, Alisha and Jeff Berry of Clayton, NC, Brei and Grant Cornell of Columbia, MO, and Kenzie and Henry Dodd of Corinth, MS, his grandchildren, Ryder, Gavin, and Wren Berry; Jagger, Cash, Dax, and Beckham Cornell; Hilton, Lawrence, and Porter Dodd. Also surviving is his sister Katie and Mark White of Arizona, nephews Marcus, Zeno, and William; aunts and uncles, Marie and Duane Stephen, and Al and Sandy Wedel, and many cousins.

In lieu of flowers, go fishing. Contact Teri if you need a pole.
