Robert John Pyle was born in Burlington, Iowa on October 22, 1947 and he passed away in hospice care at his home in Olathe, Kansas, on August 31, 2022, from renal failure.
He served in the United States Army and was a veteran of the Viet Nam war. After graduating from the University of Nebraska, he was employed as a Special Agent with the Treasury Department. After retirement, he worked for both the State Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. He also chose to earn his real estate license and in the last months of his life was a devoted Taco Bell employee. His regional manager claimed he wished he had four more employees like him!
He was actively involved in youth programming throughout his life, coaching baseball and basketball, facilitating therapeutic horseback riding and contributing time and effort to both the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. Many youngsters called him "Dad," and he loved every one of his 'bonus' children.
As a 14-year volunteer for the Ingham Animal Control he relished showing adoptable cats and dogs on WLNS-TV. Although he was an avid Cornhusker he did adopt Michigan State in later years. As a member of the Capitol City Corvette Club, he was a true competitor who thrived on the road rallies and raising money for the Childrens' Miracle Network.
His parents and daughter, Afton, preceded him in death. Surviving are his wife, Deanna, sons, James (Devin), Rick (Lisa) and granddaughters, Jillian and Ashlyn and brother, Bill Pyle (Yaeko).
