Listen to Obituary

Raymond Fred Haguewood, age 89, born in Kansas City, Missouri, on December 22, 1936, to Fred and Goldie Haguewood, passed peacefully in Overland Park, Kansas, on September 12, 2026, surrounded by loved ones.

He is survived by the love of his life, Patricia E. Haguewood; his three children, Eugene (Diane), Jimmy (Patty), and Patience (Jess) Acosta; his eight grandchildren, Alexandra (Ben) McDonald, Briana (Dave) Arends, Nicholas (Brianna), Hannah (Mike) McDonough, Holleigh, Samuel, Charlie, and Gabriel; and his six great-grandchildren, Miles, Owen, Noah, Ryan, Rozemie, and Graham.

Raymond grew up in Kansas City graduating from Shawnee Mission High School in 1957. After graduation, he went to work for The Jones Store and joined the Army Reserves serving for six years as a Buck Sargent.

Raymond later went to work for Automotive Distributors, Inc. (ADI) where he met Patricia. They were just preparing to celebrate their 66th anniversary on September 17th, 2026. He finished his career retiring from Johnson County Community College working in the print shop. After retiring, he continued to work part time for another 20 years with ground services.

Raymond lived his life with a quiet steady devotion-to God, to his family and to anyone who needed a hand. He was the kind of man who would drop everything to help anyone in need.

His days were filled with the things he loved-bowling which was his most favorite sport, his church men’s breakfast group, bingo, along with fishing, golfing, scouting and lacing up his shoes for a run in his younger years. But more than those, Raymond cherished being home with his wife and spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Those were the moments he held closest.

He will be deeply missed, and the memories he left behind will live forever.

He was deeply passionate about supporting veterans, first responders, and the families who are left behind after tragedy. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider making a donation in his honor to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, which helps provide mortgage-free homes and support to these families. Donations may be made at T2T.org.
