Ramona "Mona" Bruce

Ramona M. “Mona” Bruce, 69, of Gardner, KS passed away on Monday, July 27, 2026 at her home.

A service to honor and celebrate Ramona’s life will be held at 11:00am on Friday, August 7, 2026 at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, Olathe, KS. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation from 9:30 – 11:00 before the service. Mona will be laid to rest in Shawnee Mission Memory Gardens. Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Cancer Society.

Ramona was born on April 3, 1957 in Olathe, KS, the daughter of John W. and Alice V. (Taylor) Bruce. Ramona was a cook/chef and enjoyed doing anything related to culinary for everybody. Ramona had a heart of gold and if she knew somebody might need her assistance for catering an event (whether asked or not) she always reached out or replied “I’ve got you”. She cherished her family and friends and always went out of her way to lend a helping hand anyway and anytime she could.

Ramona is survived by her spouse, Wanda Damery; son, Anthony H. (Shari) Bruce; grandchildren: DeAnthony Bruce, Arianna Bruce, Dayvon Bruce, and Ashley Danford; siblings: John W. (Lena) Bruce, Gwendolyn Bruce Johnson, Judy Turner, Donald Bruce, Christine Sipple, Stephan (Linda) Bruce, Sonya Williams, Sherrye Bruce, and Stuart (Trisha) Bruce; 5 great-grandchildren; and several nephews, nieces, and cousins.

Ramona was preceded in death by her parents, sister: Margie Rosetta, and brothers; David Bruce and Shannon Bruce.
