Ralph Charles Gudgel

Ralph Charles Gudgel, a beloved figure and cherished member of his community, passed away on October 24, 2025, in Independence, Missouri. Born on December 12, 1942, in Kansas City, Kansas, Ralph lived a life marked by dedication, service, and unwavering love for his family.

Ralph proudly served in the Army, embracing the values of duty and honor that came with his military service. This part of his life shaped his character and instilled in him a deep sense of commitment to those around him.

Ralph is preceded in death by his father and mother, Harry Gudgel and Marion (Oberg) Gudgel of Kansas City, KS.

He is survived by his devoted daughter, Cecilia Gudgel, who will carry forward his legacy of kindness and strength. Ralph is also survived by his sisters, Jane Stanfield of Overland Park, KS, Susan Balthazor of Kansas City, MO and his brother Larry Gudgel of Shawnee, KS. He had many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly along with his beloved dog and companion, Peanut. Ralph's love for his family was a cornerstone of his existence, as he consistently nurtured and supported those closest to him.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate Ralph's life at a series of services held at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home in Olathe, Kansas. The visitation will take place on November 4, 2025, from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM, followed by a funeral service beginning at 11:00 AM. A graveside service will be held later that day at Leavenworth National Cemetery, commencing at 1:30 PM, allowing for a final farewell to this remarkable man.

Ralph Charles Gudgel will be remembered not only for his service to his country but for the warmth he brought into the lives of those who knew him. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
