Philip George Echalier

Philip "Jack" Echalier, 79, of Olathe, Kansas, passed away on February 25, 2025, in the presence of his family. He is survived by his wife, Gloria Echalier, their children Hannah (Dale) Maxfield and Ben (Lacey) Echalier, four grandchildren, and a brother, Richard (Lyn). He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Molly Echalier.

Philip was born in England in 1945, at the end of the war. He spent some of his childhood in Uganda, where his father’s job took the family. He started work at a diesel engine company as an apprentice and then worked for that company for his entire professional life, more than 45 years. This job took him from Dursley, a small town in England, to Olathe, Kansas where he became an American citizen.

He lived a full and meaningful life. He was a devoted husband to his wife of 50 years, Gloria, and a loving father to his son, Ben, and daughter, Hannah. His greatest joy came from his four beloved grandchildren—Trixie, Neil, Seth, and Cora—who brought him endless happiness. He was a longtime member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Olathe and the people there were his family.

Philip’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

A memorial service to honor Philip’s life will be held on March 22, 2025, at 2 p.m. at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, located at 15315 W. 151st Street in Olathe, Kansas.
