Peter J. Trim

Peter J. Trim passed away on August 11, 2026, at the age of 77. Born on December 17, 1948, Peter lived a full and purposeful life.

Peter began his education at St. Paul Catholic Elementary School and continued on to St. Joseph Catholic high School in Shawnee, KS laying a strong foundation for a lifetime marked by hard work and perseverance. These early lessons of faith, discipline, and community service would remain at the heart of all he did throughout his years.

In his professional life, Peter achieved remarkable accomplishments in both transportation and corporate leadership. Serving as Manager at Barlow Van Lines/John F Ivory Moving and Storage agent for 45 years, he was admired for his reliability, steadiness, and exceptional work ethic. For 40 years, he also held the position of Vice President at Reget, Incorporated, where he was known for his wisdom, kindness, generosity, leadership, frugality, and unwavering dedication.

Outside of work, Peter found joy and peace on the water. His love of boating and fishing was well known among family and friends, reflecting his appreciation for the simple pleasures and natural beauty life had to offer. Family will cherish memories of happy times spent with Pete, on the waters of Table Rock Lake.

Peter was above all a guiding example to his family. He embodied strength and courage, facing every challenge with remarkable tenacity—a true fighter to the very end. Those closest to him knew him as a source of wisdom, encouragement, kindness, generosity, and leadership. Qualities that went beyond words and will remain a living testament to his character.

Peter is survived by his sisters, Patricia (Trim) Ward (Larry), Mary (Trim) Finocchario (Louie), and Stella (Trim) Huerter (Rich), and 11 nieces and nephews, 27 great-nieces and nephews, 18 great-great-nieces and nephews, and 17-year companion, Valerie McPherson. Preceded in death by, Ethan Trim, Mary Trim, and his nephew Dan Ward.

Family, friends, and all whose lives Peter touched are invited to join in honoring his memory. Visitation will be held at St. Paul Catholic Church, 21650 West 115th Terrace, Olathe, KS 66061, on August 28, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Rosary at 10:45 a.m. to 11 a.m. The memorial service will follow at the same location from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Together, we will celebrate a life of perseverance, generosity, and love—a life that continues to inspire those he leaves behind.
