Listen to Obituary

Peter “Pete” John Loftus, 69, passed away on June 23, 2026 after a long battle with brain cancer. He courageously fought brain tumors for more than 23 years and faced his illness with strength and determination.

Born in Kansas City, Missouri, Pete was a hardworking man who took great pride in taking care of his family. He worked tirelessly to provide for those he loved and was someone his family and friends could always count on.

Pete dedicated more than 30 years of his life as a semi-truck driver, a career he truly loved. He took great pride in his work, his big rig, and the countless miles he traveled along the open road. Driving wasn't just a job to Pete- it was part of who he was.

Pete enjoyed the simple things in life- hunting, fishing, boating, racing, and spending time around the grill with family and friends. Pete loved all things Kansas City—the Chiefs, the Royals, and the barbecue. He took pride in caring for his home and yard and was always willing to help family members with home projects, car repairs, or anything else that needed fixing.

Pete was known for his mischievous spirit and great sense of humor. He loved playing pranks, telling jokes, and making people laugh. His fun-loving nature brought happiness to family, friends, and everyone fortunate enough to know him

Above all, Pete loved his family. Nothing was more important to him than the people he cared about. He leaves behind countless memories filled with laughter and love, along with many special moments shared with those closest to him.

Pete is survived by his wife, Rhonda Loftus; his children, Josh Loftus (Heather), Kara Loftus, and Shana Loftus; grandchildren Riley and Kalin; his sister Lynn Sprowl; and many other relatives and friends who loved him dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents, Evelyn Cadwell and Ivo Loftus, and his sister, Lee Dye.

Pete ‘s legacy is one of strength, hard work, humor, and love for his family and friends. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
