Listen to Obituary

Paul Douglas Duck, 66, of Kansas, passed away peacefully after an early and long battle with Alzheimer’s. Though taken early, Paul’s life was marked by love, faith, and a deep devotion to community and service.

Born on May 2, 1959, in Kansas City, Missouri, Paul attended Sterling College and later Fort Hays State University, earning his bachelor’s degree in education. His greatest accomplishment, however, was being a proud father to his daughter, Kelsey Moore.

Paul loved a project, and found joy in home projects—especially the two backyard treehouses and zip line he created for his daughter and the neighbor kids. Paul approached every job with reliability, good humor, and a strong sense of purpose. These jobs included 6th grade teacher, manager at Helzberg Diamonds, youth coordinator at Westside Family Church, and bus driver.

His deep faith guided every part of his life. Paul was an active member of West Side Family Church, where he worked, volunteered, and shared his heart for service. He took part in many mission trips with youth groups, traveling as far as Africa, and New Orleans to help those in need and share his love of God. At every family gathering, he was prepared with a game or activity, eager to entertain the kids and make for a fun afternoon.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Linda Duck; his brother, Greg Duck; and his parents, Cecil and Pauline Duck. He is survived by his daughter, Kelsey Moore; his sisters, Debbie and Diana; and his twin brother Mark.
