Patricia Marie Novotny, age 88, of Olathe, Kansas, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2026, at her home. She was born to James and Helen Corbin in Newton, Kansas on May 9, 1937. She was a beloved daughter of caring parents who instilled in her a lifelong dedication to compassion and service.
Pat attended Kansas State University graduating with a degree in Journalism in 1959. She moved to Hill City, Kansas shortly after where she met William (Bill) Novotny. Bill and Pat were married on August 15, 1959. They stayed in Hill City for 10 years, then moved to Russell, KS in 1968 where they raised their family over the next 30 years. During her time in Russell, she went back to school to become a registered nurse. When Bill retired in 1996, they moved to Zephyrhills, FL. They returned to the Kansas City area in 2018 to be closer to family.
Pat is survived by her children, Ramona Schwartz, Gayne Morris, and Corbin (Rebecca) Novotny; daughter-in-law Maxine Novotny; and 11 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Helen Corbin; husband William Novotny; and son, Todd Novotny.
Pat devoted much of her life to helping others as a registered nurse. Beginning her healthcare career in 1980, she served countless patients and families with kindness and professionalism until her retirement in 2008. Her steady presence and gentle heart left a lasting impression on all who worked alongside her or received her care.
Beyond her professional life, Pat was a loving wife, mother, daughter, and a cherished friend. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life—sharing her homemade meals and baked goods, painting beautiful scenes that reflected her creativity, and crocheting pieces filled with warmth and love.
Pat’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Her kindness, patience, and quiet strength will be dearly missed but fondly remembered.
At Pat's request there will be no funeral services. The family suggests donations to either:
