Patricia Ann Lipp

 Patricia Ann (O’Gara) Lipp was born in Sioux City, IA on August 2, 1939, the oldest child of her parents, Mildred (Pehrson) O’Gara and George O’Gara.  Patricia grew up alongside her brother, Dick (Richard) O’Gara, in Laurel, NE surrounded by family and friends. She graduated from Wayne State Teachers College in Wayne, NE in 1957. Pat married Earl Antone Lipp on Jan. 3, 1960 at the Laurel Methodist Church in the midst of a monumental snow storm that detoured many from being able to attend, including the best man. They were blessed with 3 children, Tammy, Criss and Ken, their spouses, Bob Wies, Jeff Hastings, and Cherry Lipp, 7 grandchildren, 1 adopted grandchild, and 11 great grandchildren who were all her pride and joy. She took her roll as grandparent very seriously. 

Pat, as she was lovingly called or Grandma, was a friend to all and a stranger to none. It was a running joke in the family that Grandma knew someone everywhere we went without fail. Through the years she served in many churches, the Eastern Star, PTOs, PEO, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, and Christian Women’s Club. Pat and Earl owned mini markets in Yankton SD and Lollipop Preschool in Columbus, NE and Yankton, SD. Though family was always their first priority, they adored their friends, especially the Poker Club (in name only) who they shared life with.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl, who faithfully walked by her side until his passing on June 14, 2014. Also, preceding her in death was her sister-in-law, Mary O’Gara, and 2 great grandchildren, Beau Earl Wies and Bella Angelina Wies. 

Though her unexpected passing has left a void in our hearts, she most assuredly entered the gates of heaven ready to organize her homecoming, engage with everyone she came in contact with and probably wanting to join the welcome committee.

 A celebration of life service will be held at Cedar Lake Village Chapel in Olathe, KS at a later date to honor her life.
