Nancy Marie Grotzinger, a cherished mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, neighbor, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 29, 2025, in Overland Park, Kansas. She was born on March 22, 1939, in Jefferson City, Missouri.
Nancy dedicated her life to helping others and working hard to support her family, finding joy in nurturing those she loved. She was a proud Westport High School graduate and carried the values of love for family and hard work throughout her life. Her passion for gardening not only brought beauty to her surroundings but also created a sanctuary where she could connect with nature. Additionally, her talent for sewing allowed her to craft pieces for the home, family, and friends, reflecting her generous spirit and ability to flex her creativity.
Nancy is survived by her two daughters, Jill Grotzinger and Kristine Pitman, her nephew Timothy Thurman, and two half-sisters, Elizabeth Martin and Vicki Howe. She was a proud grandmother to her four grandchildren: Elliot and Cooper Grotzinger Frerichs and Dalton and Levi Pitman. Each of them will remember her not only for her kindness but also for the wisdom she shared throughout their lives.
Nancy is preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert Grotzinger; her sister, Carol Albertin; her friend, Robert Eddington; her granddaughter, Amanda McDonald; and her mother, Edith (Clark) Velha. They all hold a special place in the family's hearts.
As we remember Nancy, we celebrate her unwavering devotion to her family and friends, her vibrant spirit, her quick laugh, and the warmth she brought into the lives of all who knew her. Her presence will be missed but never forgotten.
In lieu of flowers and donations, and in honor of Nancy, the family encourages you to engage in random acts of kindness towards others.
