Morris A. Brassfield

Morris Albert Brassfield, age 72, passed away on January 9, 2026, in Olathe, Kansas. He was born on September 28, 1953, in Cushing, Oklahoma, to Frank and Mary Brassfield, who raised him with deep love, strong values, and a respect for hard work that shaped the course of his life.

Morris was the devoted husband of Miriam Brassfield, the love of his life and the steady foundation of their family. They shared a marriage rooted in faith, perseverance, laughter, and grace. Together they raised four children who were the great pride of his life: Shawna Evans (Brent), Micah Somerville (Andy), Macey Wallace (Travis), and Kyle Brewer (Holly). He was a proud Papa to Cole Evans (Giovanna), Emma Evans, Jackson Wallace, Camden Petrie (Catherine), Olivia Somerville, Lawson Wallace, Faith Brewer, Nikki Wallace, Eli Brewer and Mallory Somerville, and a joyful great-grandpa to Levi Evans. His family was his greatest earthly blessing, and he never stopped being grateful for it.

He is also survived by his brothers Dale Brassfield (Gina), Dennis Brassfield (Theresa), and Terry Brassfield, along with many extended family members and lifelong friends.

Morris’s life was marked by perseverance and adaptability. Growing up, his family moved often, and stability was not always guaranteed. Yet through those years, he learned lessons that would guide him for the rest of his life — to work hard, to be honest, to take responsibility, and to never quit. He believed deeply that dignity was found in effort, that leadership meant service, and that real success came from doing meaningful work with integrity.

Over the course of his career, Morris rose into leadership roles, not because he sought titles, but because he believed in responsibility and showing up prepared. He often reflected that while he thought he was “flying by the seat of his pants,” God had a plan all along. He credited every success not to himself, but to the men and women God placed in his life and to the grace of Jesus Christ.

Faith was the cornerstone of Morris’s life. He came to know Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior as a young man, and that decision shaped every season that followed. His faith was steady and lived out daily — not in perfection, but in humility, generosity, forgiveness, and service. He believed Jesus walked with him through every move, every hardship, and every blessing, even when he didn’t always recognize it at the time.

As a father and Papa, Morris believed in quiet strength, gentleness, and leading by example. He taught his children and grandchildren that being a gentleman still mattered, that real strength was shown through love, restraint, and service, and that leadership began on one’s knees. He understood that being present mattered more than speaking loudly, and that love was always stronger than force.

Those who knew Morris will remember his warmth, his thoughtful humor, his boisterous laugh, his wisdom, and his ability to make others feel valued. He listened more than he spoke, offered help without expecting anything in return, and believed deeply in paying it forward. His life reflected his belief that people mattered more than positions, and that character mattered more than achievement.

Morris leaves behind a legacy of steadfast faith, deep love for family, and a life guided by integrity, humility, and service. His influence lives on in the lives of his children, grandchildren, and all who were blessed to know him. He looked forward with hope to the day he would walk the streets of gold with those who went before him, fully confident in the promises of his Savior.
