Michael Leo Martens

Michael Leo Martens, 45, of Overland Park, Kansas, unexpectedly passed away on Saturday, April 11, 2026. He was born on March 26, 1981 in Venezuela to Dennis and Deborah (Rowe) Martens. He was raised in Louisburg, Kansas and Overland Park, Kansas where he spent the rest of his life.

Michael made many great relationships through his life and was a man with a good heart. His goofy sense of humor brought light and laughter into the lives of those he met. Michael was known for his generosity and always wanted to help out others. He lived larger than any of us, embracing life with passion and leaving a lasting impact that will be remembered fondly by all who knew him. Michael is survived by his daughter, Marlie, mother, Deborah, Lynn Niere (Marlie’s mother), sister, Nicole, step-mother, Carla. He is proceeded by his father, Dennis Martens.

Michael owned his own concrete business, Martens Flatwork. He was a dedicated business owner who was a perfectionist and was known for his hardworking spirit.

He was a man who loved spending time at the Lake of the Ozarks with his family and friends out on his boat, where he found joy and relaxation. Michael had a passion for sports and playing tennis with his friends and daughter at Genesis Health Club, where he had a great community. Michael was also a proud Chiefs fan who attended several games with his family.
