Michael Lynn Galloway, 66, passed away at his home in Overland Park, Kansas on the evening of May 1, 2026 following a three year battle with cancer.
Mike was born on October 3, 1959 in Lafayette, Indiana to Edward and Beverly (Ricketts) Galloway. He was a 1977 graduate of Pittsburg High School. He continued his academic pursuits at Pittsburg State University (1978) and Kansas State University (1978-1982) where he earned the degree Bachelor of Architecture, Architecture.
Mike married his high-school sweetheart, Ellen (Yoakam) Galloway, on August 3, 1979 in Pittsburg, Kansas. They have three children: Ryan (Dara) Galloway, Courtney (Jace) Denison and Kelsey (Alex) Driver; and four grandchildren: Roya and Millie Denison, Lizzy Galloway and Griffin Driver.
Mike is survived by his siblings Cathy (Galloway) Pacheco and Matt Galloway.
Mike had a very successful career in the architectural field which included employment at: Duncan Architects (3 yrs), Nearing Staats Preloger & Jones (NSPJ) (6yrs), Gould Evans (14yrs), Klover Architects (5yrs 5mo) and BRR Architecture (11yrs 7mo). He was a member of the American Institutes of Architects (AIA). Mike retired in December of 2021 as Vice President of BRR Architecture.
Mike spent his free time playing golf with his friends. He had a goal to play courses in all 50 states. He also enjoyed traveling and restoring old cars. He was a member of the Mustang Club of Greater Kansas City, Mustang Club of America as well as many other car groups.
We invite Mike’s family, friends and co-workers to celebrate his life on Thursday, May 21st from 4-7PM at The Gathering Place at the Overland Park Arboretum and Botanical Gardens located at 8909 W 179th Street Overland Park KS 66013.
