Mary Jordan, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and cherished member of the Olathe community, passed away on June 7, 2026, in Olathe, Kansas surrounded by her dearest loved ones. Born on August 4, 1954, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Mary’s life was a testament to grace, dedication, and heartfelt devotion to family and community.
Mary was a woman of many talents and passions. Her hands nurtured gardens lush with life, her spirit found peace beside tranquil waters while fishing, and her heart was uplifted by the melodies of music. She was also gifted in the arts of sewing and crafting, weaving beauty and creativity into everyday moments. These interests were not mere pastimes but reflections of her gentle and persevering nature, which touched the lives of all who knew her.
Her commitment to service was recognized with the prestigious Blue Valley School District Distinguished Service Award, a recognition she held with immense pride. Through this honor, Mary’s dedication to education and the betterment of her community was warmly acknowledged and remembered as a beacon of her enduring legacy.
Mary’s journey was enriched by the love and companionship of her devoted husband, Jimmy Tex Jordan. Together, they built a family filled with love and laughter. She was the proud mother of Maja Ariel Freeman and Damien Alvie Jordan, and her miniature goldendoodle Holiday Princess "Holly", and the adoring grandmother of Emma Arabella Freeman. Her family was her greatest joy and her guiding light. Mary is also survived by her sister Lois Lowe, whose bond with Mary remained a source of strength and comfort.
Mary’s passing leaves a poignant void, not only for those she loved but also for the extended family that preceded her in death—her sisters Leila Keith and Luveon Alfrey, and her brothers Charles, Leroy, Leon, Lonzo, and Harvey Rotert. Their memories are forever intertwined with Mary’s own rich tapestry of life.
The funeral service to honor Mary’s remarkable life will be held on June 11, 2026, from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, located at 14275 S Black Bob Rd, Olathe, Kansas 66062. Following this, a graveside service will take place at Leavenworth National Cemetery, at 150 Muncie Road, Leavenworth, Kansas 66048, from 11:00 a.m. until noon.
As we bid farewell to Mary Jordan, we celebrate a life marked by compassion, creativity, and unwavering devotion. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and all who were privileged to share in the warmth of her presence. In this time of sorrow, we find solace in the enduring legacy she leaves behind—a legacy of love, kindness, and grace that will continue to inspire those who follow in her footsteps.
