Rosa “Martha” Crawley, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and the kind of person who made every room brighter simply by walking into it, passed away on June 15, 2026, at the age of 87.
Martha was born on April 30, 1939, in Mexico City, where her story began before life’s journey carried her far and wide. In 1964, she married Valdemar Garcia, and together they embraced the adventurous life of a military family. As Val served in the United States Air Force for 20 years, Martha made a home wherever they were called — from the tropical shores of Hawaii to the rich landscapes of Germany — embodying the quiet strength and grace that would define her throughout her life. Along the way, she formed incredible friendships that spanned the globe, many of which lasted a lifetime.
After Val’s retirement, Martha settled in Burkburnett, Texas, where she found a meaningful calling serving her community as an interpreter for local school districts — a role that allowed her warmth and bilingual gift to open doors for families navigating a new language and culture. She continued that work after moving to Olathe, Kansas in 2001, when she came to live with her daughter Adriana and son-in-law Terry Mullins. She remained there — loved, cared for, and deeply cherished — until her passing.
Those who knew Martha knew her smile first. She was cheerful, full of life, and genuinely the heart of any gathering. She loved her family and friends with everything she had, and she showed it — through her cooking, which carried the warmth of her roots, through the quilts and sewing projects she crafted with patient, loving hands, and through the quiet hours she spent reading and studying her Bible. She also had a great love of movies, and could find joy in an afternoon on the couch just as easily as she could light up a room full of people.
Above all, Martha loved Jesus, and she wanted everyone she met to know Him too. It wasn’t unusual for a conversation with Martha — whether with a friend, a stranger, or a caregiver — to turn into an opportunity to share her faith. Even in her final days, she continued to ask the nurses and doctors caring for her if they knew Jesus, making sure that her witness continued right up until the end.
Martha was preceded in death by her mother, Maria de Jesus Diaz; her brother, Rafael Gonzales; and her beloved son, Javier Garcia, who passed away in 2020.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Adriana and Terry Mullins. She also has five grandchildren she adored; Storm and Ocean Garcia, Kyle Mullins and his wife Kendra, Kayla and her husband Gabe McAbee, and Kory Mullins. She is also survived by her two beloved great-granddaughters, Blakely and Raelyn, who called her by the sweetest name — Gammy. She delighted in every moment spent with them, spoiling them with gifts, love, and all the attention a great-grandmother’s heart could give.
Martha crossed oceans, built homes in distant lands, served her community with grace, and through it all, kept faith and family at the center of everything. She leaves behind a legacy not of things, but of warmth — felt in every life she touched.
She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
