Louise B. Mcdonald

May 22, 1926 — July 5, 2023

Louise B. McDonald (Lou, as she was known to her many friends), aged 97, passed away on the evening of July 5, 2023, from natural causes. Lou spent her last day with family and died peacefully at Brookdale Senior Living in Overland Park, Kansas.

Lou was born on May 22, 1926, to Josephine (Bruce) and Louis Buschman in Kansas City, MO. She graduated from Southwest High School in 1946, and attended Chevy Chase College in Maryland and the University of Missouri in Colombia, MO. Lou married Edward F. Walsh in 1948, and had two children, Randy and Linda. She divorced and later remarried Robert N. McDonald in 1955. Together they had Karen and lived in Cleveland, OH, Detroit, MI, and Eufaula, AL, and then returned "home" to Leawood, KS. Lou was primarily a homemaker and supported her husband in his business endeavors. She also owned and operated an antique store in Sanibel, FL. She was an active Member in the Junior League of Kansas City, MO, The Westport Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution, The Colonial Dames of America (Chapter XIII), and the Kansas City and Michigan Newcomers Organizations. Lou is survived by her three children; six grandchildren; and three great grandchildren, with one more on the way…

Lou was very family focused and was always there as a mom, for her extended family and for her many lifelong friends. She was vivacious, beautiful, fun and funny. The family would like to express its heartfelt thanks to the staff of Brookdale for taking such good care of her for the last 10 years, and for the incredible work Hospice provided in the last four months of her life.

There will be a graveside service on Saturday, July 15, 2023, at noon at Forest Hill Cemetery (6901 Troost Ave. Kansas City, MO). Donations are not necessary, but if you are so inclined, please donate to HCA Midwest Hospice & Family Care (11111 Nall Ave. Suite 220, Leawood, KS 66211)
