Lonnie Everett Chase

Lonnie Everett Chase, age 79, passed away December 21, 2023 surrounded by his family at Kansas City Hospice House.

Lonnie was born August 13, 1944 in Greeley, Kansas to Robert and Eleanor (Harding) Chase. He graduated from Greeley High School in 1962, and began working with the Santa Fe Railroad, eventually retiring in 2004. He enjoyed staying in touch with his many co-workers after retiring.

He married Martha Ann Steele on March 6, 1965, and they made their home in the Spring Hill, Kansas area.

He was a member of St. John Paul II Catholic Church. He enjoyed spending time outdoors and fishing. He loved his children and grandchildren, and enjoyed attending their activities. He was an avid card player and he and Martha spent many hours with their many friends and family playing cards and dominoes and telling stories. He especially enjoyed weekends spent in Garnett with his in-laws. He and Martha also looked forward to spending time in Mexico, from February to March, for 25 years. Many family and friends were able to join them there over the years. His was a life well-lived with many friends and family. He was known and loved by many, and will be dearly missed by all.

He is survived by his wife, Martha, of the home, his children Mike (Lisa) Chase, Marcy (Troy) LaPlant, Andrea (Tom) Guetterman, and Shane (Megan) Chase, grandchildren Lindsey (Taylor) Chesnut, Lauren (Devin) Fuhrmann, Ashlea (Walker) Dickson, Greyson(Gretchen) LaPlant, Sara (Adam) Wilkerson, Luke Guetterman, Brice Guetterman, Julia Guetterman, George Guetterman, Braxton Chase and Brooklyn Chase. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren Adalyn Chesnut, Miles Chesnut, Flynn Dickson, Maison LaPlant, and his brother Gerald Chase, as well as numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.

Lonnie was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Kermit Chase and Robert Chase, his sister Bonnie Pickert and his grandsons, Nicholas Chase and Vincent LaPlant.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Kansas City Hospice House or to St. John Paul II Catholic Church Parish.
