Lois Austin, 93 was born on October 6, 1930 in Wichita, Kansas to Mike and Lillian Murra. She went home to be with her Lord and Savior on September 9, 2024 in Overland Park, Kansas after a long fight with Dementia.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mike and Lillian Murra and her brother Robert. She leaves behind her loving husband of 61 years, Bill of the home, a daughter Julie Fletcher and a son Mike (Teresa) both of Overland Park. She was blessed with 4 grandchildren, Alex (Amber) and Emily Fletcher, Jessica Fangman(Ben) and Madelyn Austin. She also had 2 great grandchildren, Ella and Amelia Fangman.
Lois was very proud to graduate from Wichita University and went onto teach physical education and art to high school students in Wakeeny Kansas. It was there that she met Bill and they were married on July 21, 1963. They raised 2 children and her family was the pride and joy of her life. She loved to sew and quilt and work with her hands whether it be inside the house or outside in the yard. She created many handmade Christmas cards over the years that were sent out to family and friends for the holidays. Lois volunteered for many years at Advent Health. She had many jobs but her favorites were making stockings for the new babies at Christmas time and tying yarn to make the hats that were put on the new babies after they were born. Lois loved and served her Lord Jesus Christ and attended Community Covenant Church for over 30 years. She volunteered in the nursery and attended many bible studies and was involved in Women’s ministries. She was in charge of rolling bandages that were sent overseas to the mission field. Lois never met a stranger and was eager to help anyone with a problem or need. She was always smiling and fun to be around and left us all a legacy of love, generosity, and kindness to continue on in our lives.
We as a family would like to express our deepest appreciation to Interim Hospice for all of their love, kindness, and care that they provided for Mom and our family during these last 9 weeks. We would also like to express our gratitude to all of you for your prayers, meals, and acts of kindness shown to our family.

We have chosen these 2 organizations for Mom’s love of stray animals and an organization that helps Emily’s quality of life.
When Tomorrow Starts Without Me
When tomorrow starts without me, please try to understand,
That an angel came and called my name and took me by the hand.
The angel said my place was ready, in Heaven far above and that
I’d have to leave behind all those I dearly love. But when I walked
through Heaven’s Gates, I felt so much at home, for God looked down,
smiled at me, and told me “Welcome Home”. So when tomorrow starts
without me, don’t think we’re far apart, for every time you think of me,
I’m right there in your heart.
