Olathe

Lindsey Earl Bouser, 81, of Olathe, passed away on December 11, 2024, at the Olathe Hospice House. 

Lindsey was born on April 10, 1943, to Norman Bouser and Lola (Briggens) Bouser, in Osawatomie, KS. 

Lindsey went on to graduate from Osawatomie High School in 1962, where he played on the Varsity football team. He later moved to Paola, KS, where he married Mattie Ruth (Harris) Bouser, on May 10, 1969. In this union he became father to seven children, that he raised as his own. 

Lindsey, who was also known to most as Sing, loved to fish and hunt. He also enjoyed working on trucks and cars in his spare time, as well as cooking BBQ with his buddies. He was known for making his famous brisket, which most would say was the best in town. Lindsey and his buddies held a booth at the Roots Festival in Paola for their BBQ and people flocked for miles just to make sure they didn’t miss getting a taste of the best They entered several competitions including the Lenexa Cookoff, where he placed for his brisket. 

He worked at Taylor Forge and Kansas Iron Works in Paola, KS, for many years before moving to Olathe, KS. Once residing in Olathe, he began working for Havens Construction in Liberty, MO, where he was a foreman and a Master Blaster. Lindsey retired from Havens after many years of employment, and then went on to become a bus monitor for First Student for several years, before retiring all together to enjoy the rest of his life with his family and his best friend Duke, his dog. 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mattie Ruth Bouser, mother, Lola Bouser, father Norman Bouser, daughter Joyce M Smith, son Michael E Seymour, four brothers, Samuel Ingram, Arthur Bouser, Norman Bouser Jr, Tomy Bouser, and one sister Joyce Spruillone. 

Lindsey is survived by his daughters Vurches Webster Shrum,(Rick) of Kansas City, KS, Brenda Vanderbilt, of Memphis, TN, Corliss Lindsey (Rodney), of Olathe, KS and sons Timothy Seymour, (Teresa), of Olathe, KS, George Seymour of Olathe, KS, his sisters Norma Bouser of Lancaster, CA and Theresa Turner, of Kansas City, MO, his adopted son Clifford Lucas, (Sandy), of Louisburg, KS, and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. 

Visitation will be held on December 27, 2024, at 10:00 AM, followed by funeral services at 11:00 AM at Penwell-Gabel Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Olathe, KS, with Stacey Webster officiating. 

Graveside will take place, in the Olathe Memorial Cemetery.
