Linda M. House

August 11, 1956 — May 4, 2024

Linda Mae House RN, IBCLC, Born 8/11/56, Passed 5/4/24.

Linda was born in St. Louis, Missouri. She was raised by her mother Alberta Charlotte Daily and step-father John Edward Daily in Wentzville, Missouri. She attended Wentzville Elementary and High Schools, earning her General Education Degree.

Linda brought five children into the world. While raising her kids, Linda was a lay midwife and a La Lache Leauge leader; assisting in dozens of home births and helping new mothers with breastfeeding. Later she attended St. Mary's College of O'Fallon, obtaining an Associate of Science degree in Nursing in 1985. She went on to work at St. John's Mercy Medical Center where she cared for new mothers and their babies in the high-risk neonatal and postpartum wards. She continued to study in the field and gained a certification in Lactation Consultancy in 1999. Linda adored everything to do with childbirth, babies, and motherhood.

Linda enjoyed studying healthcare improvements, and natural remedies, and keeping up with developments in nursing. She believed in the power of drinking lots of water and taking daily herbal supplements. An avid reader, Linda loved science fiction. She was a huge fan of Star Trek (especially Captain Jean Luc Piccard). Scuba diving and travel to tropical climes were a huge part of life for Linda. She had many cats and loved their company. Jesus was definitely her co-pilot and she attended church often. Later in life, Linda was comforted by the weekly company of the Chaplain.

Her devoted husband is Robert Miller; Her children are Felicia Rateliff (Jon Lamb), Suzanne Rateliff (Richard Setencich), James Rateliff (Geetha Samuel), Alex Rateliff (Jennifer Rateliff), Grant Rateliff (Ashley Hasse). Her grandchildren are Brittany (Tommy), Alexis, Savannah, Madison, Morgan (Dan), Owen, Amelia, Layla, and Dallas. Her great-grandchildren are Ashtyn, Hattie Jo, Zero, Zuri, and Jadzia. Her siblings are Ron Birkenmeier (Marilyn), Jesse House (Grace), Charlotte Cox, Evelyn Orf (Mike), Jane Bennett (Dave), Debra Buttner (Thom); She also has many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and nephews. Her first husband was Jim Rateliff (Shelby).

Linda will be deeply missed by her many family members, friends, colleagues, and all the mothers, children, and families she touched through her vocation.
