Linda Fay Link, age 72, of Overland Park, KS, died at home on hospice on 7/23/25. She was born in Osage City, KS, to Winston and Margaret (Regenold) Morehead. She graduated from Kansas State University. She married the late Kipton Smutz and had two children, Todd and Angela (deceased). In 2005 she married Tim Link and became the beloved stepmother to Sarah and Benjamin Link (deceased). She loved being “Nana” to her 4 grandchildren and enjoyed travel, visiting state capitals and gardens, seeing historic mansions, hiking, cooking and relishing time with family and friends. Linda had a strong faith and valued serving her community as a volunteer (Operation Breakthrough; Meals On Wheels; hospice; Stephen Ministry) and participating in two Bible studies for many years. She valued her long career as the Executive Director of the Kansas City Southwest Clinical Society, organizing and facilitating high quality, non-commercial medical meetings for this historic organization.
Linda is survived by husband Tim of Overland Park; son Todd Smutz of Iowa City, Iowa; stepdaughter Sarah Link Ferguson of Overland Park; grandchildren Richard, Lillian, and Clara Smutz; granddaughter Eliana Ferguson; and brother William Morehead of Osage City, KS.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donation be made to Kansas City Hospice and Palliative Care or Operation Breakthrough (KCMO).
Linda’s life and wonderful spirit will be celebrated at Penwell-Gable Chapel, 14275 S. Black Bob Rd, Olathe, KS. Visitation will be Monday 7/28/25 at 1pm followed by a funeral service at 2pm.
