Kristie Cozad Richerson of Overland Park, age 64, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 11, at Overland Park Regional Medical Center.
She was born November 5, 1959 to David “Old Joe” and Cynthia (Bonner) Cozad.
As a youth, she took a passionate interest in the needs and rights of people with disabilities, the dramatic arts and horseback riding. Kristie graduated from Blue Valley High School in 1977.
She and former husband, Robert “Bob” Richerson, raised three sons together, whom she adored. Late in life, she attained a bachelor’s of science in nursing and worked tirelessly as a hospice nurse, helping to guide the terminally ill and their loved ones through the difficulties of death.
She was a great confidant, a loyal friend, and the ideal companion for a night at the theater.
Kristie is survived by her three sons, Matthew, Brian, and Patrick; her brothers, Kent and Kevin; her three grandchildren, Nicholas, Warren, and Vela; and the many friends and colleagues whose lives she brightened.
Her family will be hosting a luncheon in her memory at Black Bob Park in Olathe Sunday, August 18th, at 11:30. We welcome any aggrieved by her passing to share in this time to honor and remember Kristie with us.
