Mrs. Khamkip Vongsy was born on February 3, 1926, and passed away peacefully on August 17, 2026, at the remarkable age of 100.
Throughout her extraordinary journey of a century, Khamkip touched countless lives with her quiet strength, wisdom, kindness, and endless capacity to care for others. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, and beloved matriarch whose presence was a constant source of comfort and strength to her family.
Of all the roles she treasured, perhaps her greatest calling was that of a grandmother. Khamkip did not simply love her grandchildren—she helped shape them, guide them, and raise them with the same fierce devotion she had given her own children. Her home was a safe harbor, filled with warm meals, unconditional love, comfort, and a steady presence that carried her family through every stage of life.
To her grandchildren and great grandchildren—she was more than a grandmother. She was a teacher, caregiver, confidante, second mother, and the heart of the family. Her love and guidance helped shape the generations that followed her, leaving a legacy that will continue for years to come.
Khamkip is survived by her sister, Seng Sengsamouth; her loving children, Depthphouvang (Kayson) Mounarath, Phouvieng Vongsy, Manyla (Kou) Sopha, Thong (Bounthom) Thoummavong, and Akkavanh Mounarath; her cherished grandchildren, Vangpanya Mounarath, Vangouthai Mounarath, Katie (Calvin) Touch, Johnnie (Oanh) Vongsy, Bruce (Brittany) Sopha, Joe (Shelley) Sopha, George (Chris) Sopha, Bobbi (Adam Davone) Thoummavong, and Onie (Korey) Thoummavong; and her beloved great-grandchildren, Monica, Ethan, Tila, Logan, Stella, Anneli, Mae, Kirin, Camille, Layla and Callan along with extended family members and friends whose lives were forever touched by her love and grace.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bounlot Vongsy, parents Boua and Liem Vongsy, and brothers Lieum, Sieum, Kang, Khamkip, Keo, Seng, Soomboun and Thongphoun.
A service celebrating Khamkip's remarkable life will be held at 1pm on August 23, at Penwell Gabel.
Khamkip's legacy does not end with her passing. It lives on in the values she instilled, the traditions she carried forward, the safe and loving home she created, and most of all, in the hearts of the generations she so lovingly raised.
Her family will carry her love, wisdom, and strength with them always.
She will be greatly missed and forever loved, remembered, and cherished by her family and friends.
